Should have said ‘Yes’ more often
In retrospect, I often thought that if I had just said ‘yes’, everything would have been
easier. Even in friendships that seemed safe and familiar, expectations clashed. My
communication always seemed to be misinterpreted and I started to wonder: what does
consent really mean?
In ‘Should have said ‘Yes’ more often’ we explore how intimacy and communication do
not always find each other effortlessly. What if physical spontaneity and verbal
communication do not reinforce each other, but actually get in each other’s way? The
film is a fusion of experiences, both of the maker and of many women who shared their
stories. With an unfiltered dialogue, this film shows the complexity of intimacy. Not as a
clear-cut indictment, but as an invitation to acknowledge, reflect and redefine how we
connect with each other.
